From April through June 1886, William Garrett's memories of the early settlers of Des Moines County, Iowa were reported in the Daily Gazette newspaper. No. 1 through No. 5 covers Burlington and No. 6 through No. 14, the townships. Mr. Garrett names the settlers, discusses where they lived, sometimes where they came from, what their business or occupation was, and who left for other states or territories. Marriages, a couple murders, jail breaks and a disappearance are included. We have copied the series "as is" and provided an index for each booklet. We did not find anything for Washington township.

$3.50 each  This set of books will only be printed one time in this format. Contact DMCGS PO Box 493, Burlington, Iowa 52601 today to obtain your copy of the individual publication of William Garrett. Please indicate which book you would like.
